Data We Collect

RankReason does not ask for a name, payment details, or a RankReason account to browse rankings or use the ChatGPT App. If you voluntarily request email updates, we collect the email address needed to provide them. We otherwise process only the information needed to answer a request and protect the service:

• Website and MCP request metadata processed by Cloudflare, such as IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp, country code, and security signals
• The search text or ranking and product identifiers that ChatGPT sends when it calls a RankReason tool
• The published RankReason pages, ranking data, evidence notes, and links returned in response
• An email address, subscription status, signup page, and confirmation timestamps when you opt into email updates

How the ChatGPT App Works

When you use RankReason in ChatGPT, OpenAI sends the tool request to RankReason's MCP endpoint. RankReason uses it only to search published content, fetch a public page, or assemble a comparison. RankReason does not use tool requests for advertising profiles or model training.

Application observability records the tool name, success or failure, and duration. It is configured not to log prompts, search text, affiliate parameters, tool payloads, or response bodies. When application logs are enabled, RankReason retains them for no longer than 30 days for security and reliability troubleshooting.

Cookies & Analytics

We do not use third-party analytics trackers, tracking pixels, fingerprinting scripts, or advertising cookies.

RankReason does not use a country-selection cookie or store an Amazon marketplace preference in your browser.

Email Updates

Email updates use double opt-in: submitting an address creates a pending record and SMTP2GO sends a confirmation link. RankReason activates the address only after that link is used. Cloudflare D1 stores the address and subscription state; SMTP2GO processes confirmation and update emails. We do not store signup IP addresses in the mailing-list database.

You can unsubscribe through the link included in email. Unsubscribed records are retained only as needed to honor the opt-out and prevent accidental resubscription; pending, unconfirmed requests may be deleted during routine maintenance.

Affiliate Links

Some outbound Amazon links on the RankReason website are affiliate links. Amazon processes the visit under its own privacy policy. RankReason marks website affiliate links with sponsored and nofollow attributes where appropriate. The ChatGPT App links only to RankReason pages; visitors can decide there whether to use an optional disclosed affiliate link.

External Evidence & Review Links

Evidence and full-review actions open external publisher or RankReason pages. External publishers receive the usual request metadata from your browser when you choose to open their links.

Data Sharing

We do not sell or rent personal data and do not share it for targeted advertising. OpenAI processes ChatGPT conversations under its policies. Cloudflare processes request data and mailing-list records to host, secure, and deliver RankReason. SMTP2GO processes email addresses and message delivery data for opted-in updates. Amazon receives data only when you choose an affiliate link on the RankReason website, and evidence publishers receive the usual request data when you open their external links.

Your Choices

You can use the public website without the ChatGPT App or email updates, follow the RSS feed without providing an address, decline every external link, unsubscribe from email, and ask us about access or deletion of data associated with your address or request. Because RankReason does not create browsing profiles, we may not be able to identify a particular visitor without supporting request details.
